Sorry it has been so long since I have posted! This semester has been very busy but wonderful at the same time! I am going to try to start from the beginning and list everything I have been doing and working on since January.
-First, I have officially started teaching in the Youth Conservatory. I teach a boy who is about 7 years old. He is a beginner so I am the lucky one who gets to introduce the piano to him! He is progressing very quickly and really enjoys it. The YC is a great program that makes it so we can become better teachers. It is helpful being able to learn a lot of material on how to teach and apply it immediately. I also assist with the YC beginning piano group class. There are about eight kids who are of the ages of 4,5, and 6. We do activities with them, sing songs, play the piano, and teach them everything a beginning student would learn. It is a lot of fun and the kids say the funniest things!
-Second, USU puts on a special piano festival every year called Wassermann Festival. There are four famous pianists from around the world coming and performing in our performance hall. It is an incredible opportunity we have here! Last weekend they had auditions for people to play in one of the four master classes for the festival. I get to play a Mozart Sonata in the master class this coming week. I am so thrilled for this opportunity! I will definitely let everyone know how it goes.
-This semester I have a lot of material to work on, but I have really struggled figuring out how to balance it all. As of right now I have been working on a Mozart Sonata, Schumann Fantasy Pieces, and I am hoping to get to a Beethoven Sonata, Rachmaninoff Transcription of a Violin Partita, and Saint-Seans Concerto No. 2 Mvt. 2. It is a lot of material and I am just realizing I need to buckle down and get to work!
School is going pretty well. Classes are definitely more challenging but also more rewarding. I am just staying busy at school and trying to do the best I can. Thanks for all your love and support!
